It’s a new year! It’s time for resolutions! But this is a science-fiction and fantasy blog, so we’re not interested in just any resolution. No, instead, we’re going on-brand.

Being underwhelmed is an interesting sensation. It’s not something that we should feel or need to feel, but when expectations and ideas of “how things should be” are not met with agreement of any kind, there will often be a consequential emptiness or disappointment, in most cases anyway. The series features the Doctor, a humanoid alien (called a Time Lord) who travels the universe…
The second issue of (formerly) Nightwing’s new series, Grayson, seems to prove that Issue One was not a complete fluke, much to my surprise and grudging approval. The first one still stands above the second in terms of making every panel count; despite the fact that the first chapter was shorter by two pages, it felt like…
If you’ve ever wondered exactly how video game development works, this may be a good place to start. Extra Credits is an online series that centers around games, how they work, and the sub-culture that goes along with them. In particular, they have a nice number of videos on writing for games and what that entails….
The Show: Knights of Sidonia’s main claim to fame is that it is the first anime series to be broadcasted in America exclusively by Netflix. Despite what the phrase “A Netflix Original Series” may make one assume, Knights of Sidonia (Shidonia no Kishi) is based on a manga originally published in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine. The series…
