Wow! That Looks Amazing!

Analyzing 10 most visually stunning films in Sci-Fi and Fantasy is no small task, unfortunately some incredible films I couldn’t bear to leave out, had to be scratched from the list, if there’s only to be 10, I’ll have to endure. I’ll point out some quality features included in the films, that leave you saying, WOW! Bit cheesy? Oh whatever!

10. Terminator 2.

A breakthrough in terms of visuals for the time, and a very successful sequel indeed, seen as the best by some. The T-1000’s ability to morph into any human being it touches, is still a cold looking stylish technique, that even gives you a few chills today. “Astalla Vista Baby!”

9. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2.

These series of films have been a truly spectacular outing and a meeting place for almost every English actor. With every film  you’ll find a solid feast for the eyes, whether it’s a racing round on flying brooms catching golden metal flying objects or casting a spell. “Expelliarmis!”

6. The Dark Knight.

Fantastic sweeping shots of the buildings, adding to the already tense atmosphere. With even some of the actors actually on the buildings. “Why So Serious!”
7. Avengers.
Another super hero movie that’s brilliant at showing bad guys asses being kicked, only this time a group of them working together, vast ariel shots and plenty of entertainment, will be more than what your eyes are use to, a lot for the retina’s indeed.
Occasionally the combination of my past love for the hero films, and the strong visuals, catches me of guard, as I’m caught cheering in support. Then I realize and remind myself I need to sit (as people watch me in concern), and know it’s all pristine special effects done on a computer. Amazing! “Superheroes? In New York? Give Me a Break!”

6. The Pirates of the Caribbean.

Warning! If you’re severely dehydrated or a swimmer then do not watch this film as you may want to dive into the screen. Yes, plenty of sea, sand and  pirates!? Some beautiful locations of islands and oceans that you cant help but look at in awe. “You Smell Funny!”

5. Ratatouille

Such rich colors, beautiful scenery and fantastic motion/mannerisms, in the only way Pixar can create. The already fantastic history and mysticism of Paris is coupled with a heart warming dream, from a charming rat named “Remy” who just want’s to make it big as a Chef. Pixar have got people falling for a rat, that has to be a feat in itself.

4. Inception.

Clear, clever and cooly complex, your eyes will be filled with all kinds of imagery and twists.

3. The Lord of the Rings.

Special effects  are done very well and support the story’s world, instead of inflicting the film with tacky assistance from the visual department, you can find with some other films. Simply seeing the above image is captivating enough.

2. Star Wars.

Other visually stunning films rarely have a chance when the above is in the mix, like the equivalent of thanksgiving dinner you’ll be full from the incredible imagery. It’s travels go out to the far reaches of space, seeing diverse planets and some extraordinary cultures and characters. “A Long Time Ago In a Galaxy Far, Far Away…”

1. Avatar.

One could see how easy it may be to get lost, gazing in awe and wonder in all there is to offer here. Enter the mystical world that is Avatar. Vastly visceral colors, cleanly executed effects and massive visuals. “Wow!”
