Upcoming Star Wars Details

While Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to rake in money all over the world the studios are already planning their takeover beyond 2020.

An updated calendar has been released stating the release dates and production info of the upcoming films in the Star Wars canon. They are:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The first of the anthology films will be released on December 16, 2016. The movie is directed by Godzilla’s Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz. The film follows a group of Rebels and their plan to destroy the Death Star. Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelson, Forest Whitaker and Alan Tudyk.

Star Wars: Episode VIII

After being pushed back seven months viewers can expect the release sometime in December of 2017. Writer and director of Looper Rian Johnson will be taking on both roles for the anticipated sequel.

Untitled Han Solo Anthology

This currently untitled and uncast film has already garnered a ton of hype. Actors on the short list for the role of young Han include Dave Franco, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Scott Eastwood. The people behind the scenes are equally exciting with Empire Strikes Back screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon penning the script and the geniuses behind The Lego Movie and the recent Jump Street films Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be co-directing.

Star Wars: Episode IX

Now the releases get more vague. For the ninth installment we can guess that a release will be scheduled for sometime in 2019. Ryan Johnson will also be writing the script while Jurassic World’s Colin Trevorrow will take over as director.

Untitled (Possibly Boba Fett) Anthology

The movie is set to be released sometime in 2020, but the plot isn’t known. However, it is highly speculated to be an anthology film focused on the beginnings of Boba Fett. Chronicle director, and most recently director for the disastrous  reboot, Josh Trank was previously attached but has now left the project and so far there is no word on who will be his replacement.

So there you have it! Which Star Wars spectacle has you salivating?
