The trailer for the revolutionary new web series, The Republic, has been released. Starring Marc Singer (The Beastmaster) and Sean Young (Blade Runner), The Republic is scheduled for debut early in 2010.
The Republic chronicles the trials and tribulations of one American family, the Aldens, struggling to survive as the country collapses around them.  Singer plays Frank Alden, a father and a civil engineer. Sean Young — also known for her role opposite Kevin Costner in No Way Out — plays Martha Alden, a working mother turned core-of-steel activist. Co-stars include Claudia Perea, Vito Cottone, Shawn Stoller, Ladina Spence, and special guest-star Mary-Margaret Humes. Also starring Joe Stewart, Larry Parrish, and Scott Burn.
The Republic is the brain-child of Edgar®-nominated author Clayton Emery. Making his directorial debut is Ken Penders is a veteran comic book writer and illustrator best known for his work on the Archie comic series Sonic the Hedgehog and spin-off, Knuckles the Echidna. He now helms Floating Island Productions, an independent specialty film company based in Los Angeles that places a strategic focus on emerging and innovative digital platforms.
In addition to his work for Archie, Penders has penned and illustrated stories for DC, Marvel, Image and Disney, working on diverse titles as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Disney Adventures, Captain Atom, and The Green Hornet and more.
He helms both The Republic and The Lost Ones – a superhero epic published by Image Comics and created by Penders, shooting concurrently.
Costume Designer is Michael Philpot (Spiderman 3 and 4). Director of Photography is Christian Leplus, who includes work with renowned director Franco Zeffirelli among his lenser credits. Producers are Christian Leplus, Larry Houston and Ken Penders. Bernadette Shahin and Susan L. Therriault are Executive Producers.
