Marvel’s Here to Dominate

I will be the first to admit that I am new to the superhero craze (having only ever really cared for Toby McGuire’s Spider-Man series). That attribute of mine has gradually begun to change since Joss Whedon’s Avengers hit theaters in 2012. I don’t like to go into any fandom half-cocked, so I watched all of the newer Marvel movies beforehand (including the blockbuster failure The Incredible Hulk), and I became hooked. When S.H.I.E.L.D. was announced for its own series, I was excited yet skeptic. Once Captain America: The Winter Soldier was out, S.H.I.E.L.D. picked up and became one of my most anticipated shows of the week.

On October 28th, Marvel announced its latest movie slate following the internet explosion of the leaked Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, and of course it is dominating my news feed.

In 2015, Age of Ultron and Ant-Man will be released as well, so it looks like we’ve got something to look forward to for the next four and a half years!

The release of Captain Marvel will mark the first movie from the studio to be headlined by a woman, but I can’t help but wonder when we will get a movie headlined by Black Widow. Give me Black Widow directed by Joss Whedon and I will be one happy lady.

As far as Doctor Strange, I’ve seen unconfirmed rumors that Sherlock’s own Benedict Cumberbatch snagged the role, while Black Panther has been confirmed to be Chadwick Boseman, who will also appear in four other Marvel movies. It is also known that, in Captain America’s third movie, he and Iron Man will pitted against each other and Boseman will make his first appearance as Black Panther.

Avengers ended with a brief introduction of Thanos, a cosmic villain that will be featured in Avengers: Infinity War, voiced by Josh Brolin.

After Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (“A Fractured House”) premiered, we got our first sneak peek at Age of Ultron and it was absolutely fantastic. I went from grinning, to laughing, to heart pounding devastation. May cannot get here soon enough.
