Teaser for Halo: Nightfall

We’re all patiently waiting for the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, right? Well, as we count down the days to November 11th, there is some content to devour. Releasing the same day is Halo: Nightfall. The live-action series for Microsoft devices will tell the story of Halo: Guardians character Agent Jameson Locke. Mike Colter of The Following and The Good Wife plays Agent Locke. Nightfall looks to connect the events of Halo 4 and Guardians. Check out the trailer:

It feels a bit like Prometheus, right? That’s because Ridley Scott is producing and he clearly has a strong influence on the atmosphere created. The show will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, by creating five episodes and likely to run about fifteen minutes each. Locke and his team will head to the colony of Sedra to investigate terrorist activity that involves a biological weapon that only affects humans.

Overall, the trailer is not too shabby. The quality seems great. Colter is intimidating and stern and looks to be a character of interest, especially because he may become a big part of the franchise when Guardians drops late in 2015. The setting, filmed in Ireland and Iceland, looks fantastic and ethereal, even amidst spraying gunfire. What could they have done better? Put in more than a quick second of previous game features. A snippet of the Covenant and an energy sword does not satisfy. Also, what’s with all those cheesy lines? “Death will come to all of us.” Spooky! “Take life where only God can give it.” Wait, what? “Ready to go to Hell, Colonel?” I’m out.

The upcoming Master Chief Collection features Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4. These versions will be remastered. Also included is the aforementioned series and access to the Guardians beta. Releases on November 11, 2014 for Xbox One.
