The black cards are really powerful in Foundations. The reprints, especially. I did not expect that we would have these options just sitting around in standard now. All but the fourth cards on this list are fully capable of changing the course of a game. They will (sometimes indirectly) win the whole thing. Plus, you can put all of these into the same style of deck.
Generic blue cards see a lot of use, and clearly, Foundations planned for that. Because my top five basically consists of generally useful spells for a large variety of decks. These don’t feel as flashy as the white cards—nor are there any haymakers. They’re just good cards.
Foundations is going to be around for a long time—and I’m honestly super happy with this idea. The constant shifting of Standard is one of the reasons I fell off it. I like getting to play a pet deck long enough to get good at it. It’s rewarding.
If you’re like me, then you enjoy the idea of Timeless on MTGA—but would rather not constantly lose. And, if you’re really like me, then you especially hate losing to Show and Tell combos.
I have a bias: I love Izzet and cannot help but build decks in those colors whenever possible. But I promise that the latter half of this list was based on what I thought were the strongest cards in Bloomburrow. It being so skewed toward Izzet is just because the Izzet cards are really good.
I said that black had some of the best cards in Bloomburrow, and I was not kidding. Some are eerily close to historically powerful cards and are within a cost range that most decks can use. The best of the red cards aren’t as clear cut, but it’s astonishing how aggressive they’ll be in the right deck.
It’s good to be back with these. I haven’t reviewed a Magic set in a little while, but Bloomburrow is too dang charming. So, I’ve looked over all of the cards and narrowed my selection down to the best ones. Three per color, and three for multicolored.
Do you like synergy? Do you like a deck where each and every card works well with every other card? Well, this is the deck. Literally months in the making, I have been tinkering with this land-based, Standard Bof1 deck that gets to play cards you’ve probably never thought could be this effective.
Soon, with the release of SWTOR Update 7.4.1, we’ll all be able to transfer characters to the new SWTOR Shae Vizla server in APAC. Yay! We’ll be able to enjoy our legacy perks and achievements from our prior gameplay, save a bunch of time and effort, and benefit from the improved quality of in-game life…
Much like last set’s Tom Bombadil, Eriette of the Charmed Apple begs for someone to build around her. But there was a problem right out the gate: Auras are almost universally known as the worst card type in Magic. They have a long history of not being played.
The Wilds of Eldraine arrives very soon. It will go live on Arena less than a day after this post goes up. And I’ve looked over every single card, made a list of the best thirty or so, and then narrowed it down to only ten.
Time for the second, much more powerful of the Historic Brawl decks I promised: Elf Ball. A deck that seeks to overrun the opponent with lots of creatures pumped to absurd power by Craterhoof Behemoth.
