“Impressive In-creed!”
Firstly, by being a big fan of the series (no joke I literally have the limited edition codex on my shelf), it can be difficult to see faults with the game’s. Though I don’t see how, it would certainly be easier for someone who isn’t a fan, to find flaws with the franchise. However I will set myself a mini challenge by not giving too much praise, but more a reasonable and evenly balanced review on Assassin’s Creed.
One of the most appealing elements in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, is after you press that attack button. The vast variety of combos at your disposal and the visual cut scenes, though gruesome, are wonderfully entertaining. This and the solid sounds impacting on your foes all together can make for some addictive game play. I guarantee with a simple setting and only stick men fighting, you’d still play just for the combos alone! I would!
Cleanest and most skillful Assassin or the clumsiest fighting amateur, the way you execute you’re fighting style is entirely up to your speed and timing. You’ll find yourself playing whole mission’s over again, just because you didn’t look quite “Neo-ish”/right or too much damage was inflicted.
With more than 4 games already out and widely popular, it appears there’s no quenching the fans. The newest and one of the most anticipated games released later this year (Oct 30th), looks to be the best one yet. From viewing trailers, gameplay and conference information it would appear a definite improvement has been made, that’s due in no small part to the new “Anvil Next” engine and what an engine it is, some stunning picturesque imagery.
The stories, scientific subtext streaming through the game(s) is crafty and your often unaware it’s all being relayed from a subconscious human being, until you come off the “Animus.” When off, it’s in short periods but it can slow the pace, fortunately it doesn’t debilitate the rest of the game. Perhaps a science one may see a reality in the not too distant future, who knows!?
I for one was definitely sold when I discovered the above image, the attention to detail and overall beauty of the forest still emitting despite a gruesome battle taking place is simply magnificent.
But games (even good ones) are not without there flaws and while the free running aspect of it all is superb, it can seem a little uncontrolled when at full steam sprint. I find my Assassin in head first dives, into a river as apposed to leaping to the next roof as I intended. Brilliant!
I tried! But overall there isn’t many mistakes that jump out. Like “Mr Bond” and “Final Fantasy” this could continue on for another 6 installments or more.
