Total Recall (2012)

0

By azzib287 on January 2nd, 2013

The newest remake of Total Recall is not unlike the older version, in terms of its futuristic setting, the vehicles and advancements in technology such as firearms. There is even a trip to the Rekall Corporation as there was in the original. But aside from the similarities, like going for a “holiday”, the big difference is the total absence of Arnie, though reportedly interested; it’ll be Colin Farrell taking on the main role as Doug Quaid.

As mentioned previously Doug visits the Rekall Corporation, for what will be the most bizarre vacation of all time. When he enters this world, reality is blurred and all hell breaks loose, as his faced with obstacle after obstacle. Ultimately his mission is to discover exactly what is going on and why his being targeted. He should have just settled for Italy or perhaps a train journey, a bit risky, test the waters first, if a mate tells you the company almost gave him a lobotomy when he went, best not go ahead with it.

What was good in the previous film that still remains in this one is the attention to detail, with the futuristic slant etc. looking as good if not better. It only takes a few images to get the full gist of the movie, so if you see the trailer and stop it at 15 seconds in; there is a huge shot of the city outside Doug’s apartment, which allows you to fully jump into that world.

A 21st century boost will help with better looking effects and sound. So it would seem they’ve stuck with the same formula, but with many little differences, such as the way the story is told, and a reduction in muscles from the main actor.
