Mortal Kombat X Hits Hard

Mortal Kombat X has arrived!

The game, which acts a sequel to 2011’s Mortal Kombat, hit iOS and Windows on April 7 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the 14. It’s another installment of the legendary fighting series from NetherRealm Studios, formerly Midway Games, and it is bringing back all the blood and guts you love. It’s been well-received by fans and critics alike.

X is a fantastic fighting game and is also a ton of fun to watch. For hours I sat and watched other people fight as different characters just so we could all evaluate the new and more gruesome moves. There are X-ray special moves that allow you to watch bones actually crunch from impact and Brutalities that will make you squirm with dizzying delight. The star of the show, however, will always be the Fatalities. The words “FINISH HIM” are flashing in your mind right now. Admit it. Each character offers two specialties. Some are gross, some will make you holler and others will crack you up. Cassie Cage, spawn of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, gets my vote for best kill. *SPOILER.* She will shoot her opponent in both kneecaps, then in the head. Don’t worry though, she’ll patch that wound with her bubblegum which quickly fills with blood and ends in a sickly pop. OR she will knock off your jaw with a hit, pick up your withering body, take a selfie with it and post it to social media. It’s so, so great. *END OF SPOILER.*

Old characters like Scorpion and Sub-Zero return, and there are new faces to enjoy like the buzzing D’Vorah who controls insects, or the team of Ferra and Torr, the masked giant and the blade-wielding dwarf woman who sits on her shoulders.

Players can also play through a story mode and choose to download extra content like the Kombat Pack, featuring Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees as a bonus character, as well as others. You can check out the trailer for Mortal Kombat X below:
