James Cameron

Terminator 1 & 2, The Abyss, Aliens, Solaris and the highest earning film of all time, Avatar, this of course being just above the 2nd highest he also directed, Titanic. Not a lot more success a film director could ask for is there? Is it a stroke of luck? Or has he definitely got the job of directing, down to a tee? The answer would seem obvious? In my humble opinion his a true Sci-Fi master, yes “Sensei.”

One can be rocky when starting out in the filming career; but James Cameron has never done a particularly bad film or one that I haven’t liked. His skill that most impresses me and, I’m sure you’ll agree, is how he creates constant tension, during conflicting moments, his use of music has always played a big role and kept people’s imagination going. In T2 for example where John Connor runs from the arcade and via a motor bike. In fact I remember somebody, who would literally skip all the chase scenes, as it was too much tension to bear, I presume the thought of them getting caught, was a little much. True story!

The majority of the movies are linear which a lot more people can co-operate with, as opposed to dealing with a vast variety of different flash backs or constant cuts into different time frames.

Yes the force with this one is definitely strong, always getting the best out of his actors, in fact that’s probably the only reason you wouldn’t like something he does, is out of envy! Acting is always sublime and when an emotion is needed it’s delivered almost seamlessly. But a director can only go so far, clearly there are some gifted teams behind him too, as with any movie, success isn’t won by one but won by many.
