LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, may I have your attention, please?! You’ve been patient! You’ve been diligent! You’ve been loyal! Now, for demonstrating such tremendous qualities, such incredible attributes, such unbelievable resolve, you shall be rewarded! Friends, bloggers, Earthlings, lend me your ears! The time has come, yet again, for you to get your proper dose of excitement, adventure, and intrigue! People of the Net, without further delay, I present to you this week’s FRRRRRRRRRRIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY FICTIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
Sam…
…Sam, play it.
*Cue music.*
Brandon Scott walks up nearby the Fictionmonger and quietly says something.
The Fictionmonger nods, then looks over at the band.
Stop the music. Brandon wants to speak.
“Yeah, sorry to break the flow of this, but I wanted to talk for a minute. So, yeah, the world is…well, you know how the world is right now. COVID-19 is causing some serious problems for a lot of people, and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t affecting things where I am. The world is shutting down in an attempt to quell this virus, and it’s scary to look at the news. And I am not in a position to help much besides self-quarantining.
“But, there is one thing I can do: I can put out happy stories. I’m an author and I think it’s every artist’s job to try to improve the world through their art, even if just to offer escapism to someone.
“So, in that spirit, for the next month here, all the stories on Friday Fiction will be positive and have happy endings. I hope that’s not too much of a spoiler. If the world is too much to bear right now, and you need a distraction, then I’m here to help. This week’s story is called ‘Kindness About All,’ and you can read it by CLICKING HERE.
“To all of you out there, I wish you safety, comfort, and calm during these trying times. And, for everyone on the front lines, the doctors and nurses and service industry people and manufacturing people and those running grocery stores, you are all saints. Thank you for all you’re doing. If any of you read this, I hope my little story brings you some needed positivity.”
Brandon nods to the Fictionmonger and the two of them go their separate ways, making sure to stay at least 6 feet apart.
…tuning out.
