DOUBLE TRAILER TALK: Rogue One and Doctor Strange

0

By Carly Fjeld on April 14th, 2016

It’s here! Let’s take a look at the world premiere trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

So we find Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso on the Yavin 4 base with a long list of alleged offenses. It seems as if her crimes have been forgiven and Mon Mothma (a brilliant surprise) thinks she’s the right person for the mission. Erso will join a team of Rebel fighters that will steal the plans for the Death Star in order to prevent the Emperor’s reign.

Godzilla director Gareth Edwards has brought a lot to your screen. Not only are his recreations of former settings almost perfect but there’s more to the teaser that remains unexplained like most other characters, the possibility of Shadow Troopers and which droid is Alan Tudyk?!

There’s some fun tidbits like Forest Whitaker’s character and Donnie Yen’s delightful space samurai and also a mysterious cloaked figure surrounded by smoke. Is Darth Vader?! Vader showing up in the premiere Star Wars heist movie is almost too much for my little heart to handle.

As if that was too much to handle we also got the first teaser for Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Ah yes, more Benedict Cumberbatch please! The trailer promises another origin for the less well-known character Dr. Stephen Strange. Director Scott Derrickson has the chance to tell a new story to Marvel like Phase One of the MCU introduced us to some of the biggest names of cinema in the last decade. The underdog, Guardians of the Galaxy, introduced fans to a new crew and a much more space-oriented frontier and now Derrickson has the chance to hit it out of the park with Strange’s mythos and magic.

The story also boasts big names like Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rachel McAdams. Swinton will play the Ancient One and her voice echoes throughout the trailer. The Ancient One takes Strange and Ejiofor’s Karl Mordo in and teaches them the ways of the mystical. McAdams plays a fellow surgeon and the inevitable tie back to Strange’s former life.

Rogue One will hit theaters December 16th and Strange will enchant audiences beginning November 4th.
