Comic-Con TV News

Now we talk TV!

The panel for The Walking Dead was insane and one of, if not the, most anticipated hour of Comic-Con. The trailer released for season six highlighted another “new” Rick Grimes. Maybe he’s lost it again, or maybe he’s completely right. Either way, the town of Alexandria is in for a rough ride, and Morgan may not be able to talk Rick down. Check it out.

Season six premieres on October 22nd.

As for Fear the Walking Dead, we finally got a proper trailer and not these short snippets of the origin story. This one actually looks pretty good! You can feel the fear of something taking over a big city. It’s visceral and intense. Call me impressed.

The Game of Thrones panel was a bit lacking. Creator George R.R. Martin, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and actors Kit Harrington, Lena Heady, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage all sat out the Con. It seems fishy that some of the team’s biggest batters didn’t come out to play, but it was nice that some of the other members of a seemingly infinite cast got their time at the panel.

MTV’s Teen Wolf premiered its fifth season on June 29th, but took the time during their panel to release a “still to come” trailer full of creepy goodness. The Dread Doctors (awesome band name) seem to be the toughest villain the pack has faced. And those masks, yeesh.

Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow all had their time in Hall H. Fans of Arrow saw a highlight reel of season three and will have to eagerly await for season four to premiere on October 7th. Season two of The Flash will kick off on October 6th and the highlight reel showed Barry Allen coming into his own as the superhuman speeder. The heroes from the new Legends of Tomorrow were featured in a mashup of trailers for all three shows entitled Hero Evolution. Legends is expected in early 2016.

Series nine of Doctor Who will premiere on September 19th with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman returning as The Doctor and Clara and an appearance from the wonderful Maisie Williams who seems to already be well-acquainted with The Doctor. The preview was quick, but fans don’t need much to be excited that the classic is coming back.

Personal favorite time! Starz will air Ash vs Evil Dead this Halloween! The teaser is fantastically packed with horror and comedy and the great Bruce Campbell doesn’t miss a beat. Stylistically, its perfection. The quick zooms and shots unsteadily hovering over the forest floor are back and the gore and shenanigans return. It’s a triumphant moment in television history, really.
