Watch The Last of Us as a Miniseries Now

If you’ve ever enjoyed The Last of Us, then you know that feeling you get when someone even mentions it. You have genuine emotions connected to those characters and fond memories of the hours you spent playing through a world that had gone to Hell. But there’s beauty in devastation, and an aspiring game designer on YouTube wants to broaden the game’s audience to more than just gamers. Check out the trailer.

Grant Voegtle spoke to The Verge about why he decided to edit his gameplay into a “cinematic playthrough” resembling a TV series. There are seven episodes ranging from thirty minutes to an hour over at Grant’s channel that represent the game in its edited glory. Voegtle has played certain parts of the game over 100 times just to get the shot he wants to bring to viewers. “I was hearing that people wanted to share the story of The Last of Us with their family, but they just didn’t have the time to have them sit down and play the entire game,” Voegtle told The Verge. So he spent hours upon hours getting it just right and uploading it to YouTube.

If you haven’t checked out The Last of Us from Naughty Dog, available on PS3 and 4, then you should definitely watch Grant’s adapted mini-series. It tells the heartfelt story of a man named Joel and the hardships he encounters when the world he knows shatters in front of him, multiple times. It’s an amazing story and one you should share with friends. I was late to the game when I played it last year after hearing all the hype it could never live up to, and yet it did. It exceeded the hype, and my friends and I still discuss the ending. You can support Grant by checking out his channel right here.
