TRAILER TALK: The Martian

0

By Carly Fjeld on June 20th, 2015

If you saw Interstellar, then you remember how Matt Damon was left alone on a planet and went a little stir crazy. Well, Damon must have the worst luck, because  it happened again! He was left all alone, but this time he’s on Mars and it’s all for the upcoming film from Ridley Scott, The Martian. Check out the trailer.

Man, they really want you to know how star-studded this movie is going to be and that everyone is concerned, based on the numerous shots of people looking up anxiously. Matt Damon plays Mark Watney, an astronaut presumed dead after a mission gone awry. Watney, however, refuses to give up and decides to use his limited amount of supplies to the best of his abilities.

It appears that Mark may not go crazy, or he may not have the time to go insane before he bites the bullet. He quotes that he’s going “to science the shit out of this.” He’s giving MacGyver a run for his money. Other members of his crew, including Jessica Chastain, Sebastian Stan and Kate Mara, decide to attempt a risky rescue mission, even if NASA is opposed. There will be trials and tribulations, but it seems like audiences will get a good laugh as well. Hopefully, it’s not just two hours of those worried faces and upward looks. Rounding out the cast is Jeff Daniels, Kristen Wiig, Michael Peña, Sean Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover.

The original novel was written by Andy Weir and has been a huge hit with sci-fi fans and critics alike. The book was adapted by Drew Goddard, famous for the recent hit Daredevil on Netflix and Cabin in the Woods, and directed by Scott. The film will be released by 20th Century Fox on October 2nd, 2015.
