TOP 5: Most Incredible Fictional Worlds

One of the most exciting things when watching a Sci-Fi movie is the possibility of discover new awesome and incredible worlds that serve as context to adventures and heroic missions.

These products of genial minds are capable not only to give to the story an impressive imaginary to admire, but also to provide an occasion to show the mastery and the wide range of possibilities that the new technologies gave us.

Here the Top 5 list of best fictional worlds in Sci-Fi movies:

Number 1: The Lord of The Rings

Tolkien’s masterpiece naturally deserves the honor spot in these list for two main reasons: first of all, the movie is not taking place just in one fictional place, but being a journey it explores an immense territory that is basically like creating a new continent. Second, every region of this world has its own population, language, culture, mores developed with incredible precision and search for perfection. These reasons make The Lord of The Rings not only a magic place to explore, but most of all a believable world to live in.

       Number 2: Avatar

When watching Avatar and entering the incredible world of Pandora there is just one possible reaction: WOW. The primordial landscapes and the colorful wild forest take our breath away and they almost become the protagonists of the movie, taking away our attention from a good but not so incredible story. Also, Avatar is one of the pioneers of 3D’s animation, a technology that contributes even more to drag us into an exciting and magical adventure in the wildness of nature.

       Number 3: Matrix

Very different from the other kind of fictional world that we are used to, Matrix explores more than a new world a new “reality”, creating a cyber alternative space in which our hero Neo has to defeat the “machines”.

In fact, this parallel reality has been created thanks to matrix of codes that are trying to conquer the real world as we know it. Even if sometimes Matrix makes us feel a little lost between what is real and what is fictional, it sure succeed in creating a compelling and mind blowing context to its story.

Number 4: The Chronicles of Narnia

With an incredible entrance, made of a magic wardrobe that basically represents the most profound desire of every kid, Narnia got our attention and love at first sight. This magic world populated by fauns, talking animals and evil witches took the big risk of sounding too fake and crossing the line between a “fiction” and “ridiculous”. Luckily all went well for Narnia, mostly thanks to a beautiful and moving story that has been able to capture a very wide audience and an imaginary that kept our eyes attached to the screen.

       Number 5: Monsters Inc.

Even if this movie seems outside class, I think it deserves anyway a spot in this list for one simple clear reason: it is awesome. Monster City is unique in its genre and at the same time represent a very clever parody of the real world; every detail is planned and designed to perfection, so that an even if animated, Monster Inc. feels more realistic than the majority of Sci-Fi “real” movies. But most of all, it is so damn hilarious.
