In Theaters: Close Encounters of the Third Kind

It’s been 40 years since Stephen Spielberg’s Close Encounters graced the big screen. Debuting in 1977, the same year as Star Wars, Close Encounters made over $300 million at the box office – that’s over $1.2 billion in today’s dollars.

With special effects from ILM, a fantastic story, superb direction from the master Spielberg, and excellent performances from Richard Dreyfuss, Teri Garr and the supporting cast, the film still wows even today. And we can’t leave out those 5 unforgettable musical notes from John Williams’.

For those too young to have seen it in theaters, now is your chance. For those who did and remember, it’s your chance to experience the Close Encounters awesomeness again … in 4K.

Close Encounters, remastered in 4K, will be in theaters for one week only starting September 1st.

Here’s the trailer.

1977 was a great year for sci-fi fans. Not only did we get Star Wars and Close Encounters. But we also got David Lynch’s Eraserhead and The Deep.

For now though, Close Encounters is more than enough. If you haven’t seen it or haven’t seen it on the big screen, don’t miss this rare opportunity to view this groundbreaking sci-fi classic that has been digitally remastered in 4K, as it was meant to be seen – on the big screen.

Pick up Close Encounters tickets now at Fandango.
