The Explosive Movie

What’s important to remember with this list, is that it’s, purely rated on the level of explosions and action not so much on the overall quality of the film. So boys if you like explosions and action, and let’s face it, you do, your men, then get yourself a packet of chips and drink, and find that groove.

10) AVP: Alien Vs Predator.

A good mystery mixed in with some action, if you ever wanted to see the two big franchises go head to head then this is the best one to watch.

9)Armageddon.

This apocalyptic feature has plenty to offer for any person, an all-star cast from the producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

 8) Predator.

With more guns than you can count more shells popping off than you can visibly see, and plenty of muscles (for the ladies who have been dragged along to watch it), this film will, (despite its age) still keep you on the edge of your seat. Though on the number 8 spot and many would argue it be lower, its tension is every bit as present and engaging though it was released in 1987.

 7) The Chronicles of Riddick.

Warning many women will watch this reluctantly and probably not at all. A true boys film, if you want the explosive/action level on a grander scale, then you won’t go wrong with this gem.

6) Matrix Revolutions.

Amazingly almost a quarter of the film is totally CGI and filled with complete Sci-Fi action, which doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination, but certainly entertaining enough.

Now we’ve come to the grand top 5, this will have an exhilarating amount of action, so be warned.

 5) War of the Worlds.

This doesn’t leave you sitting on the middle part of your seat for very long as the action starts almost immediately, expect on the edge of your seat stuff. Moderate in scale.

 4) Sunshine.

Big scale feature film and some great off beat moments, and the realism Danny Boyle attempted to create, in such a likely/impossible scenario, is alarmingly good at times.

 3) Star Wars – Empire Strikes Back.

Many would agree this is the mother ship of all Sci-Fi actioners, and in some respects it always will be number one, but, not necessarily, it’s not taken as seriously as it used to be, some of the effects age, can be visible so much so Mr Lucas is probably annoyed having to catch up with today’s clarity and technology. Large in Scale.

 2) Independence Day.

What got so many people by surprise is the sheer level of realism involved, and the effects are still very eye catching to this day. Huge in scale.

 1) District 9.

What’s very solidly impressive about this is not so much the explosive action sequences, itself, but rather how it’s used in relation to the rest of the film, a reinforcement to the quality. Everything added at the right time, cooperating together, makes the action sequences seem massively impactful, though they are on there own. It’s purely a tool used to amplify the already quality film that’s present as opposed to just throwing the explosions in.
