The lovable and adventurous hero comes back into full form, in this all new, kick-ass, and revamped installment. If all devoted fans are still stuck with Tobey Maguire however, they should either imagine the new Spidey as him or settle with the new face on the block, as he is long gone from this one. Peter Parker however is more skinnier, clumsier and of course nerdier than ever before, which is what’s so great, and why it’s so entertaining when we see stunts being played out, by a person who seemed initially inactive, you wouldn’t expect to have a professor leaping over building’s, so to speak. Not that they’re boring obviously.
On the set of the new film, in an interview (filming another cameo of course,) Stan Lee said exactly that.
“I think Peter is probably the most empathetic fictional character around, in comics anyway. I thought I’d make a teenager whose life was less than perfect. It gave a lot of readers a chance to relate to him. I always wanted him to be very smart; his was kind of a nerd, before he became Spiderman. But he was a smart nerd. “
On a similar note the new guy in town Andrew Garfield (Spidey) said how the character is relatable and loved by many people; by relatable, not in terms of people shooting webs out of their wrists, but more the connection with his empathy and underdog status, no matter who’s in the suit.
Spiderman by definition is probably the most acrobatic comic book hero out there, so it didn’t seem quite right when Tobey looked somewhat stocky, Andrew appears to be more the plausible figure out of the 2, where Spiderman’s concerned this in itself is a very good choice from the casting director.
The Amazing Spiderman hit the cinemas on the 3rd of July, with more engrossing action sequences, and possibly the best film version of the beloved character to date.
