Ready For The Weekend: Arrival Reviews

On our current movie poll, Arrival is actually number one! Can you believe it? Ahead of Rogue One!

So here is a collection of spoiler-free reviews about Arrival for your viewing pleasure.

As always, we gather multiple reviews so you can get a variety of points-of-view all in one place.

The consensus is that the movie is great. It’s more intellectual and character driven than action and effects driven, which can be interesting, and a nice change from the usual SFX-run-chase-shoot fests that are many sci-fi films. That said, the cinematography and production design are fantastic. So don’t think for a moment that this film will not be a feast for the eyes.

Amy Adams delivers an excellent performance and people really like and feel for her character. Unfortunately, Jeremy Renner’s character doesn’t seem to play enough of a key role, though his performance too, is excellent, as would be expected. And of course, Forest Whitaker is perfect.

The director, Denis Villeneuve, will also be directing the new Blade Runner. So given the high accolades for Arrival, we should be in for a treat.

Arrival currently has a 96 on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82 on Metacritic. You can get tickets online now at Fandango. And don’t forget, AMC Stubs holders get their fees waived at Fandango too!
