Power Rangers and Why I Liked Them as a Kid

0

By azzib287 on March 30th, 2013

Ah yes! I remember those days as a kid, filled with sugar and looking at anything involving action on T.V. If you were around the same age you would of heard of a program called Power Rangers which, was aired on a channel thats long gone, called Fox Kids. I practically spent most of my waking hours after school, in front of the TV, watching these men and women in ridiculous costumes, that would have sparks and smoke flying out of there chests when they got hit by a “weapon,” which then would be accompanied by an exaggerated somersault by the impact. I tested the spark flying theory at school, by allowing a friend punch me in the arm, all I got was a bruise. : (

Though it may not dawn on most, it’s surprisingly an ongoing successful franchise, that first started out as early as 1993, the adrenaline fueled action, cheesy lines, and building sized robots (which of course  had dinosaur names normally) would be called out if things, got rowdy. Why not!

Ridiculous!

The typical story line you’d find in an episode of Power Rangers, would start with a selection of halloween like, galactic/space villains, causing chaos of some kind. Que the multi colored Power Rangers, who would fight them person to person, then, what many didn’t understand is why, the majority of fights ended up with the villain growing into a giant, (think the green giant for sweet corn). They would call on the help of their “dinosaur” named giant robots, which they’d engage in battle with, and the Rangers would win every time. In a nutshell that was it and people “accepted” it, again, why not!

Now, why no one ever questioned the plausibility of the program, many and I will never know. To this day I wonder why I ever watched it to begin with, it would of saved me many bruises.
