Pikachu! “Poke-amoning” Around!

If someone said at the start of it all, that Pokemon will be one of the most successful and biggest franchises of all time, releasing games, movies, toys and books, the general idea being fantastical creatures, containing ridiculous features and weird abilities, one would have asked for a nice firm slap round the face to wake up.

However somewhat amazingly, all the previous mentioned has happened, still sparking interest in many, (mainly the younger generation) with different characters, combos, abilities and comical personality’s. Even changing audience’s lifestyle and sense of fun, effectively creating a very unique type of entertainment that’s lasted for more than a decade, the most charming character of all being, a comical yellow creature known only as Pikachu. Who perhaps may have eaten one to many bananas as it’s very yellow.

The basis of the story, certainly in the TV series follows a young man named Ash who on his travels competes in different challenges and competitions, to become the ultimate champion by using his creatures/insects for the battles. Where the addictiveness and pure interest in the games and stories lie, (and I too admittedly enjoyed Pokemon growing up: ) Is in finding all the different and wonderful types of animals that crop up, one can use for their own battles. This is possible by capturing them with what is known as a Poke-Ball. Once captured it is yours to keep.

In the card swapping world, TV or game the same principle stands, though occasionally altered to suit whatever the format is.Though some of the ideas (even in a fantasy world) are far-fetched and perhaps too ridiculous for some, sometimes leaving you wondering what is literally going on. The ultimate message in Pokemon and what people relate with on a grand scale is one of trust, friendship and fun. Pikachu!
