Mirror Mirror on the Wall

I wouldn’t expect anything epic from this movie, but what you’ll get and enjoy mostly from the film is the comical performances, Julia Robert’s playing the mean witch like character who you love to hate. Nathan Lane has his funny moments you’ll notice in previous films. In fact there isn’t one character that I didn’t laugh or smile with. Other than the nicely played Snow-White naïve as ever it is an all-round good cast.

Mirror Mirror is a charming, fantastical romantic comedy. Need I say more? Well seeing as this is an article I suppose it would be silly to leave it there, good to explain some of the top, highlights of the film and how it compares to other fantasy dramas/comedies. Like the masterful film, we all know too well whenever Snow-white and those cheeky little dwarfs are brought up in conversation. Disney’s adaptation of the beloved story is seen as the best rendition of the amazing story and I couldn’t agree more.

So where does Mirror Mirror come on the quality level? The tension is nicely formed between the two main characters, showing the all too familiar but classic good Vs evil struggle. The story is somewhat respectful in that it doesn’t completely give you all the information about the tale, trusting in you to know about it already, trusting that your knowledge of the tale is solid, so it gives you the bare essentials. This leaves the film lacking a degree of fluency, unlike Disney’s version though it is spoon fed to the audience, has more of a smoother quality and closest thing to seeing actual magic on screen.

In conclusion it will keep you entertained for an evening one weekend, maybe longer, a good story with a few holes that are filled up by other better films. Worth a watch.
