Magic: The Gathering, more commonly known as simply Magic, is the first collectible trading card game. It was released by Wizards of the Coast in 1993. A player can create his own deck using cards he obtains through booster packs, etc. He is then able to play against other players, who will have a deck of their own. This is what makes a trading card game so interesting. It allows for each player to customize their own deck to suit their play style or utilize the cards they have in the best possible way.
In a game, each player has a deck of at least 60 cards. There can be more than 60 in a deck but 60 is recommended as it helps you to draw your best cards. One cool thing about Magic cards is that they are made to work together, unlike Yu-gi-oh, which focuses on the power of individual cards. Each cards requires mana to cast, which is obtained mainly from land cards. Each land card has a specific color, which can only be used to summon certain cards. This means that you will need to fill your deck with cards that can use that color. This is a direct cause of themed decks, which are much more interesting than packing a deck with as much power as you can manage.
One of the rush style decks out there is the White Equipment deck. This deck aims to get a lot of cheap monsters out onto the field and buff them with equipment so that the opponent simply can’t stop them. This deck type, (as the name implies) mostly runs white, though it may use red cards as well.
The White Equipment deck needs to be able to put down a lot of creatures quickly. Cards that bring more creatures onto the field with them like Escorted Knight are a good choice. Creatures that receive extra benefits for being equipped are a must. An example is Kor Deulist, who gains double strike and +1/+1 when he is equipped. With him and trusty machete, you could get a 4/3 creature with double strike on turn 3. Of course there are plenty of other variations, and this deck style, due to the large number of equipment artifacts in it, can utilize metalcraft elements.
Another useful good creature to consider Squadron Hawk, which, when summoned, can bring up to 3 other squadron hawks onto the field from your hand or deck. Also, creatures and cards that give benefits for having a lot of creatures on the field are useful in a White Equipment deck.
Of course, White Equipment decks fall into the same trap that all rush style decks do. If you are unable to take down your opponent quickly, then it will almost always go badly for you. Usually, these decks don’t have powerful enough creatures in them to contend with the later game creatures found in slower decks. Therefore, it’s also a good idea to include a few cards like pacifism and arrest to get enemy blockers out of the way or lock down some of those massive creatures you encounter so that you can finish the enemy before they can annihilate your weaker creatures.
