Inception: Matrix meets Shutter Island – and fog horns

The coming Sci-Fi movie I am looking most forward to this summer is Inception, with Leonardo di Caprio as ‘Cobb’ in the main role. I enjoyed his acting in Shutter Island and I can´t wait to see him in Inception. So I watched the trailers for both again, and noticed that both movies uses fog horns for dramatic effect in the soundtrack.
Listen here to the Inception trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DwuVKfjctk
– then listen to the Shutter Island trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4bznTvfP6k

Is this a new trend or a coincidence?
