Here Come the Water Works

The most teary/crying eyed films in Sci-Fi and fantasy, be warned if you watch these films, there’s a chance you will run out of Kleenex.

5) LOTR – Return of the King!

The trilogy is a triumph in most peoples eyes, whether accidental or not, the three films act as their own beginning, middle and end, this is why the third is so impacting as everything (in terms of the story etc) smoothly comes together, for a very emotional climax.

4) The Land Before Time.

Much like Disney’s influence and well animated motion, this feature has all the ingredients for a weeping couple of hours. The film follows a collection of orphaned dinosaurs, whom embark on a thrilling adventure, after the unfortunate loss of their guardians. Though small in it’s relative reception initially, this has become somewhat of a phenomenon, with many sequels to it’s name, toys, books you name it.

3) Bambi

The finest example of Disney’s unbelievable impact on its audience, considering what you’re seeing on screen is nothing more than some very creative and skillful drawing. Some of the most defined works from the company, was from the early hand painted productions they made, it’s offbeat motion and unusual fluency, when animated surprisingly worked well, giving this almost dream like quality, which allowed for people to delve into the world as opposed to dismissing it.

2) Green Mile.

I would have to admit I didn’t cry watching this film WHATSOEVER… Yeah I did: ) Along with some of the other films in the list, that would leave you as a blubbering mess, this one is completely unrivaled in its emotional level. Without giving too much away, it’s almost impossible not to feel something for this film, in fact a famous critic once said,

“If you don’t get a lump in your throat, watching Green Mile, then I’ll eat my own hat!”

1) E.T. – The Extra Terrestrial.

Of all the films to have people weeping like a water fountain, none of them have had so many people in hysterical tears as much as E.T. This is due in large part to the fantastic acting, (ET’s innocence for example) from children no less, the score, which is one of the finest compositions ever heard in film, (adding the feeling of a tremendous occasion occurring.) And the film’s quality structure, which rounds itself off nicely at the end accompanied with the scores crescendo. Get that tissue as your likely to need it.
