We here at SciFiBloggers like to hear from everyone, and we like to feature small projects along with our coverage of Hollywood science fiction. This week, we’re covering SciFi Grok.

Grok is a science fiction trilogy from writer/director Jack Foster. Foster has worked for many years as a television editor, even receiving a local Emmy for his work. He says he wants to make an animated feature because animation was his first foray into filmmaking and recent technology has given his dream a chance to be a reality.

Foster has the three stories mapped out. His first, Misty Green Sky, is based on The Guardians by Irving Cox, following a girl as she learns that not everything in her world is just as it seems. This feature already has 35 minutes completed, but will need help getting finished. The second story, Turing Test 2050- Joy Ride, is about the future problems with robots.  This piece will feature a live actor interacting with animated characters. Foster wrote the piece after viewing a documentary about Alan Turing. The final story will begin by featuring live actors and transition into an animated feature. This segment is titled Beyond the Deep and follows a scuba diver’s mystical quest to discover the truth about what he’s seen in the ocean. Footage taken underwater in the beautiful Grand Cayman will be featured.

Donations will go towards paying for actors, crew, and additional computers and software to complete the features. Foster is hoping to see the project come to life by the summer of 2017.
