Guillermo Del Toro leaves The Hobbit

In just three years the world has awaited the film version of the forerunner to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and expectations for “The Hobbit” has been enormous. Peter Jackson, who directed the three Lord of the Rings movies, is the producer of the movie, and until today director Guillermo Del Toro was in charge for instructions. After three years of delays and problems in the film company MGM  Guillermo Del Toro has decided to leave the project. – It’s the toughest decision of my life, “says Guillermo Del Toro, according to Times Online.

In its contract with MGM obligated Guillermo Del Toro to settle in New Zealand, where also the three Lord of the Rings movies were recorded for three years. They are now gone, and because of MGMs economic difficulties recordings are not even begun. Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson have created both characters and scenery to film scenes. Big battles are planned and the animations are in place. But MGM has not been able to give the green light to start filming, so now Guillermo Del Toro gives up. Peter Jackson is still associated with the project, but he would not comment on the situation.
