Gamer 2009 Review

Gamer 2009 movie review. Gerard Butler returning back to the bloody battlefields.

Gamer 2009 story:
In the world of 2034, the technology of mind control has advanced to the point that living nearly full time in etherspace is not only possible, but common. Ken Castle, played by Michael C. Hall, invents self-replicating “nanites”, which colonize the brain and slowly take over existing brain cells and allow full control of all functions by a third party. Two online games, Society, and Slayer.  Society pays players for their participation. Slayer requires to fight in Death Matches in this first person shooter game to win their freedom.  Enter Kable, online champion of Slayer, becomes a target of Castle and gets a warning from another player, in game. Kable then goes to the head of a rebel organization named Humanz, lead by Ludacris. Ludacris explains to Kable that the player´s minds have been taken over by the nanites and that Castle is controlling the game.  Ludecris helps Kable rescue his wife from society

What´s Good:

Good plotting and a strong story if not a great deal of action. Kable, played by Gerald Butles is a strong protaganist and leaves the audience wanting more at the end of the movie.

What´s Bad:
There isn´t alot of offering here if you´r not a tech junkie. The ending, in which Kable kills Castle in front of all his employees and gets to walk out is a bit far-fetched.

Overall:
Not a bad movie, all in all. Other than lack of action, which we have come to expect from strong science fiction, the plot comes off well and the acting is sufficient.
