With Game of Thrones over for at least another year, the long night is now upon us leaving many looking for more. Fortunately, there are a number of YouTube channels that are either dedicated to Game of Thrones exclusively, or that regularly give excellent Game of Thrones coverage.
If you haven’t read the books or are unfamiliar with the myriad of theories and backstories that exist around the series, now is a great time to catch up and these channels are good places to start.
Here’s a quick round-up of some channels that cover Game of Thrones well year round.
Emergency Awesome – Charlie covers many pop culture entertainment properties including the MCU, DCEU, Star Wars and especially Game of Thrones. He’s a book reader and gives insightful commentary and speculation. He also has pretty good inside sources and can usually confirm rumors and break news. He doesn’t however, cover leaks.
Charlie in Westeros – Another Charlie, and another book reader, he does good story and character background videos as well as episode reviews and breakdowns.
The Last Harpy – Another book reader, The Last Harpy gives very well thought out theories, theory compilations, predictions and breakdowns without using leaks.
Talking Thrones – He gives great theories and back story coverage during his episode reviews and breakdowns. If you’re in to leaks and spoilers, this is a pretty reliable and accurate source for those.
Alt Shift X – He gives excellent and extensive background information, theory compilations and show breakdowns. His breakdowns always include book comparisons and fill us in on the show context within excluded book events.
Secrets of the Citadel – Another book reader channel, she gives great backstory for all our favorite characters and plot points. These fill in much needed context and enhance the show. This, along with Alt Shift X, is a great channel if you don’t intend to read the books.
These channels all have tons of content to enjoy, particularly if you like to learn the intricacies of this deep and expansive world that George R. R. Martin has created.
And if that’s not enough, you may want to consider listening to the audiobooks including the new prequel that’s out now. Plus, if you use our links, you’ll help out the blog 😉
Hopefully this will be enough to tide us through the long night while we wait for season 8. Enjoy.
