Five Reasons Why NBC’s Dracula Needs a Second Season

SPOILER ALERT: I WILL SPOIL YOUR SOUL AWAY IF YOU LET ME. I WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE. IF YOU ARE NOT CAUGHT UP?RUN.

  1. The Plot. We left season one with so much madness happening. It’s unclear where Dracula’s writers will go with the story. However, that’s a good thing because it leaves open a universe of possibilities for season two. For starters, Lucy’s a vampire. So many people rallied for a Lucy x Mina pairing to prevail, but (as a firm Dracula x Mina supporter) imagine what havoc an unchained, perhaps savage, bloodthirsty Lucy Westenra could wreak on England’s female population? Also, what kind of role will she play in the next season? Is she going to admit defeat and join ranks with Dracula or align herself with Harker and Van Helsing? Speaking of which, let’s see Harker be a bad guy. He sucked so profusely at being a “good” guy, so let’s see who’s life he can actually ruin intentionally.

  2. Van Helsing is Such A Badass. Historically speaking, Van Helsing has been a badass even before the adaptation of Dracula. It was already genius to pair the two as allies, but now that they’re on opposing teams? it’s about to get VERY good. One of the reasons why Van Helsing survived (unlike Lady Jayne?oh, was it too soon? Does it still hurt? Sorry) is because he doesn’t only use brute force to take down his adversaries. He discovers their weaknesses, makes a little mental note, bides his time pretending to be aloof, all the while calculating, then BANG, he destroys them with science. It’s clear he’ll be playing a major role next season. Just think about what kind of dirt he has on Dracula. Next season, Van Helsing could be walking around London, shooting biologically-specific Dracula bullets.

  3. Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Do you SEE  that? I don’t even need words after that, but I will go on in case there are straight men and/or crazy people reading. The man is a Golden Globe winner. He’s worked with Woody Allen, John Travolta, Julianne Moore, and the list rolls away into the sunset. Any super crazed (*raises hand*) JRM fan knows that he’s had a tough few years and has basically been laying low, trying to recuperate. Dracula is that comeback to American households for him. His popularity is recovering, and it seems like he’s ready to get back to work.

  4. Dracula x Mina Even if you don’t “ship” Dracula x Mina, your mouth had to be gagging out of this hemisphere over the intense, slow, peevishly bothersome, stalker obsession he had over her for the course of the entire season. Like this:

How many times am I supposed to look at that and feel things, hm? BUT NOW THEY’RE TOGETHER. Finally, the pain is over. Finally, he can stop giving her those creepy, Edward Cullen stares and treating her like porcelain. We waited until the very end of episode ten for this, and now, we need the opportunity to relish in it.

  1. As a last resort, I’m just going to conclude that I will die. Seriously. I need a constant stream of fandoms to support my life, and without this one, I’m unsure of how it’ll turn out. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with myself in this state of season uncertainty, and I fear for my life, but most importantly, I fear for the lives of those in my vicinity. What if I suddenly start to think I’m a vampire and attack them? I don’t know. Save my family. They don’t deserve that.
