You’ve heard a lot about what’s been happening at E3, and later this week we’ll highlight some of the big things that went down, but I’m here to give you the lowdown on the great debate. Every year you’re bound to see a battle of sorts. It’s always about “who won.” The neverending “clash of the consoles” is afoot. It’s Microsoft versus Sony. Xbox versus PlayStation. So what did the big guns bring?
Sony started off with something they thought was going to be a bang, but fell kind of flat, personally speaking. The Last Guardian has been in development Hell for years, and apparently while it was there it was hardly updated. The news is exciting, but hopefully we see better from future sneak peeks. The game is expected to land sometime next year. Other games to be excited about are No Man’s Sky, a Final Fantasy VII remake and a big expansion for Destiny entitled The Taken King. Project Morpheus, Sony’s virtual reality headset, will see release sometime next year, but the details were scarce. Also, in honor of E3 events, Sony has discounted select PS3 and 4 games in the PlayStation Store, running until June 23rd.
Microsoft’s keynote on Monday addressed more on the issues of the console itself rather than games. There were still games to be excited about like the gorgeous Forza 6, a new Tomb Raider game and Gears of War 4 set for late 2016, and don’t forget that Halo 5 is coming. There will also be a bundle of 30 Rare games available for just $30 in August, but the big news was more about actually gaming. Starting at the end of the year, Microsoft will release about 100 titles for the Xbox 360 that will be playable on the Xbox One, and you don’t have to repurchase titles you already own. The titles include Mass Effect and Perfect Dark among others. They also showed off the new Elite controller, which will be available for $149.99 once it hits stores this October. It’s a highly customizable version of the standard Xbox controller and features stainless steel features, which can be removed, new paddles along the back and more upgrades to bring your game to a new, more “elite” level.
So did you pick a winner? What are you most excited to see?
