Dead Space 3: New Setting, New Enemies, New Buddy System?

Although the release date is TBA, rumors are circulating around the possibility of co-op action (Isaac fighting alongside another ally with his own RIG etc.) as well as significant gameplay changes including an Icy setting and new enemies known as the “Hive Mind”. For those who have played the previous installments, is it wise to break the pattern of a strict single player mode? And will this change be a good one or simply lower the ‘horror’ effect that many are unwilling to share? Well, these questions continue to circulate among the public as we await the game’s eventual release.

Nevertheless, another more recent rumor regarding the upcoming E3 2012 event next month is bound to get Dead Space fans all riled up. According to PlayStation Universe, it is rumored that EA is prepping a demo that is set to “blow our survival-horror-starved minds.”  I don’t know about you, but I like the sound of this. It’s always good to know that EA plans to keep our scare-meter sky high, and further confirmation of the game’s changes will get us that much closer to see what Isaac has in store for us this time round. It also seems that the new Icy setting does in fact ring true; seeing how many decent horror movies have taken place on ice (The Thing, 30 Days of Night…etc.), this change of setting might be a beneficial one.

Advancements in weapons and Isaac’s armor should make the game more puzzling and challenging, but what about the addition of new human enemies? The thought of armored soldiers throwing grenades seems more reminiscent of other video games that involves Spartans or a certain Delta Squad but there is the promise that these guys will also transform into Necromorphs, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Keep them monsters of all sizes coming folks. The bigger, the better.

As for the co-op rumors, I think that I’m right by saying that I’m not entirely sure if a co-op storyline will satisfy longtime Dead Space fans. Regardless, with successful ratings from Dead Space 1 & 2 – including the DLC – I predict that the third installment will no doubt keep fans tight in their seats, or in this case, getting up to flip the switch back on after playing in the dark for too long.

A constant tumblr junkie ever since I created an account a couple of weeks ago. I'm an avid movie-goer, read a variety of books when I have the time and watch a range of television programs. Being the child of a father who owns more than 900 star wars/star trek and other sci-fi novels combined, as well as growing up alongside a brother who taught me to play video games since i was 8, its definitely hard NOT to love these genres.
