Avatar in China
Millions of Chinese people have been evicted from their homes to make room for high rises and government infrastructure projects, Avatar’s success has also angered some Chinese officials, who fear the film’s popularity takes too much market share from their domestic films.
Chinese people found a political resonance in the Avatar’s story of the Na’vi’s battle to protect their land and culture from outsiders, comparing them to Chinese citizens fighting to protect their property from the government and developers.
Chinese censors have banned the 2D version of “Avatar” from screens across the country.
Avatar in Palestine
The “Avatar” protest comes a day after the Israeli government began rerouting the enclosure to eat up less of the Palestinian village.
