Aliens

What is it about this film and the majority of the Alien films that make you hide behind a pillow or blanket? Or that makes you route for Ripley in her peril circumstances?

The answer why we need to change one’s shorts after such a film is largely based on, James Cameron’s ability to create tension, by using impacting music, some scary shots and the use of clever lighting.

Aliens is the sequel to the critically acclaimed, Alien that was directed by Ridley Scott, where the first concentrated on the performances, tension and the feeling of fear, the 2nd is far more loose, having a lot more action sequences, dramatic effects and lots and lots of advance futuristic weaponry.

It stars Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Lance Henriksen, William Hope, and Bill Paxton.

It almost starts where it left off from the first Alien, Ripley being the only one to make it out alive by the initial encounter and ordeal. Not that, that was a pleasant battle to go through, we also see Ripley cryogenically frozen for the better part of fifty four years, on a stranded spaceship that goes awol. Missing years in advance developments, technology and of the ability to relay the tragic ordeal, convincingly when she wakes up and is met with a set of high executives who have trouble believing anything she is saying.

For a film that’s taken a full box office gross of around one hundred and thirty million dollars, is close to astonishing, and James Cameron has been coined by some as being the king of sequels.

If your new to the alien franchise, and you want to scare yourself or jump occasionally then I would recommend going for this one in the series, it has far more action, thrilling set pieces and some fantastic one liners. It’s been widely considered as the best out of the four films by many, and it’s not too difficult to see why.
