Trailer Review: Wonder Woman 1984
Wonder Woman 1984: More Excellence
I don’t know what it is about Wonder Woman, but it was the first good DC movie, and it looks like this will be the same. This trailer is wonderful. The shots of her riding the lightning by lasso is such a novel, cool visual, and something that no other hero could pull off well—except maybe Thor.
And then there are our villains—and the fact we know little about them. We have teasers and cool shots, and that’s all. You know, the thing trailers never do anymore? Be a teaser for the movie?
Like, this guy, the one who takes over every television/computer monitor? He gives a speech that does not sound like the usual villain monologue. It’s instantly intriguing. I do not fully understand how he relates to Cheetah. It’s a trailer that makes me want to find out.
DC filmmakers, please keep on making Wonder Woman movies and movies like it. Shazam was great. Your version of the Flash is fun. Keep using your source material as an avenue for wholesome, morally positive depictions of heroism. We don’t need edge all the time. Superman is now too dark—but Wonder Woman still represents the goodness inherent to these kinds of superheroes, and I think that’s awesome. Especially for younger fans.
