TRAILER TALK: Doctor Who Series Nine

0

By Carly Fjeld on August 23rd, 2015

It’s been far too long since the world has seen the twelfth doctor and we still have another month of waiting. Series nine will premiere on September 19th with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman bumbling through space and time. Get a look at the trailer.

Ugh, Peter Capaldi is so good he makes my face do this thing where it looks like I’m disgusted, but I’m genuinely just so, so thrilled. Also, bonus! What a great Maisie Williams treat at the end. It appears that she and Capaldi will play off each other nicely. I’m also excited to see more of Michelle Gomez as the most recent incarnation of The Master.

Series nine will have twelve episodes, the classic Christmas episode and a special U.S. exclusive preview. The series eight finale, “Dark Water/Death in Heaven”, will play in cinemas in a few select cities in the U.S. alongside The Doctor’s Meditation, which is a special prequel to the premiere episode.

More recently, a new trailer was released. Check out the just-as-awesome second look.

I’m giddy with excitement. Old foes! New foes!

Of course writer Steven Moffat is already teasing how the season will end. “Sitting here, right now, just before the finale shooting block, I’ve figured out the cliffhanger to the penultimate episode of the next series. And it’s a whopper. Ohh, I don’t think you’ll see this coming!” Of course we won’t Moffat, you sneaky minx.

This is Capaldi’s second season as the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor and Coleman’s third as companion. Though it’s series nine, it is actually the thirty-fifth season in the Doctor Who timeline. Moffat has been involved with the reintroduction of the well-loved series since 2005 after being a fan since childhood. He’s currently the apple of fans’ eyes as well as the bane of their existence, depending on when you ask.
