Better than last week, but not as good as the premier. We’re still in that period where blanks are being filled in, and steps are being taken to push the story forward. Overall, the episode wasn’t bad because the archangels delivered us some serious sass.
William meets with Gabriel at some truck stop diner to voice his concerns about not being informed of the attack. Gabriel (perhaps in an attempt to instill fear or make William more desensitized to blood/death) murders everyone and ensures William that he chose him specifically to aid him in battle. The man stabbed somebody IN THE EYE. Nasty.
Then, he retreats to Mordor as if nothing happened. I really want to know why though. I guess there’s no better way to take down a group than to attack from within. William did some creepy cult this ep too, but I don’t care about him, so let’s move on.
David is losing his scariness. Arika’s little stunt last episode got her out of a jail cell, but he’s keeping her close. David tries to wager a deal with her again to talk to Evelyn about the ships, but failure’s in the air. Evelyn will be having no parts of Arika. Already this chick is my favorite character, and we haven’t even seen her face. Evelyn sends Arika her sister’s dead body, diminishing her worth in David’s eyes. I mean, way to make a statement. I think that might be one of the best ways to break-up with someone. Was that pity he felt for her?
David also fails in a meeting with the Senate. Michael’s is questioned about why he withheld information that higher level angels could pose exactly as humans, unlike the grotesque eight balls. David tries to rile the Senate up by saying Michael could be a traitor since he’s done it before. Luckily, no one is on Team David today, but I think it’s very possible that some seeds of suspicion have been planted.
Michael threatens David in the meeting as well. I mean, that’s what he gets! You don’t just get in an archangel’s face. Who does he think he is? I was hoping Michael saved us all the trouble and crack his skull open. Michael doesn’t have time for the small fries, though. He leaves to find a man named Louis, another higher angel posing as a human in Vega. Before, Michael was fine with the other angels remaining neutral in the war against Gabriel, but after his meeting with the Senate, he wanted them to pick a side. He gave Louis a choice to pass on: either you’re with him or you’re out of Vega, end of story.
As he leaves, Ethan comes up to him with the news that Alex is gone. I thought he knew too, Ethan, but that FACE when he found out. Has anyone else begun to ship Michael and Alex, or is it just me? How do you feel about Malex? There’s something there. Michael leaves immediately to find him and, lo and behold, he does. Ladies and gentlemen, I have no idea how he knew where he was. Maybe he was following the sound of his…heartbeat?
Alex is clearly in that limbo stage. He wants to leave, but he’s getting pulled back to Vega and his destiny. In the very beginning, he’s on the road driving and imagines Claire in the car with him, telling him he can’t run from his skin. That’s true. He should’ve just turned his cowardly butt around. It isn’t long before he comes across a few dead people in the middle of the highway. As he tries to steal their gas, he realizes one of the men is still alive, but there’s no way he’ll stay that way for long. To ease the pain, he gives the man a bullet to the head and continues his work. Not long after, Michael swoops down and refuses to get out of the car unless Alex goes someplace with him.
He takes Alex to a place of memories, the house with the basketball court where Jeep played with young Alex. Michael tells Alex that his mother died there, and that he forced Jeep to leave him. Michael claims that he wanted Alex to be strong, to fall and get back up. He CRIES as he takes responsibility for all of Alex’s anger and hurt.
This beautiful moment is ruined by a douchebag attack from Furiad and his clique. Again, Alex looks like spoiled milk and stale bread. Michael does everything, then gets himself stabbed. Let’s have a moment of silence while we assemble our prayer circles!
Okay, so Michael’s been fatally hurt, but he’s not dead yet. Alex is rushing him back to Vega.
Meanwhile, Gabriel is pissed that Furiad struck Michael, possibly killing him. He stabs Irin, who I’m guessing is someone relevant to Furiad because he doesn’t seem happy about it. Gabriel being upset was so touching! It just goes to show you that he and Michael are still brothers. Above everything, they’re brothers, and this is just a dispute that is smothered by deep rooted hurt and anger.
Oh, and Claire agrees to marry William like we always knew she would.
