Sherlock Mars is a SciFi comic mystery that is sometimes sweet, sometimes biting and often laugh out loud funny. It is filled with fine dining, virtual reality and murder spiced up with twisted cultural references, double-entendres and riffs on Earth’s history.
Kirkus Reviews said:
“Molly’s Bistro, owned by Earthling Molly Marbles, is doing well in Mars’ capital of New Chicago. Virtual Vittles, a virtual-reality restaurant that has all the treats with none of the calories, has opened nearby, but when its dining experience leaves customers hungry, they make a beeline for Molly’s place. She and Virtual Vittles owner Rick Frances eventually collaborate on a dining event; unfortunately, it ends with Rick found dead at Molly’s Bistro… Molly, who previously helped detectives solve a different mystery in the book Chocolate Chocolate Moons, works the murder case, slyly interrogating her staff and others who attended the event…This is a fun tale with a protagonist who can apparently handle anything.”
Dr. David Livingston, host of The Space Show said, “Sherlock Mars is a terrific read. It is informative, entertaining, surprising, and fun. I loved it. I also interviewed the author for 60 minutes about the book and Mars 300 years from now (the setting of Sherlock Mars) on The Space Show. You can hear the interview at (…) Jackie Kingon is an excellent writer, future thinking, she has an excellent sense of humor. She also has a very good and developed sense for the technologies she writes about in her books so you also get science fiction at its best. I think you will truly enjoy Sherlock Mars.”
And Midwest Book Review said, “A consistently compelling and entertaining read from beginning to end, “Sherlock Mars” is a blending of humor, action adventure, and mystery/suspense that will have a very special appeal to science fiction enthusiasts. Clearly demonstrating author Jackie Kingon as an especially gifted and original novelist,
“Sherlock Mars” is unreservedly recommended for community library Science Fiction & Fantasy collections. For personal reading lists it should be noted that “Sherlock Mars” is also available in a Kindle format.”
