San Diego Comic Con Off-Site Events Summary

This is the week! San Diego Comic Con officially starts this week, although  many off-site events have already started. In fact there are dozens of them. So many that they make an entire convention all on their own. And with exibits like Game of Thrones, Laika, Kong Skull Island and Blade Runner 2049, these off-site events promise to be just as exciting as the convention proper.

Here’s a quick summary of some San Diego Off-Site events from the SDCC Unofficial Blog.

Game Masters – The Exhibition: July 1 – January 15th 2018 – Fleet Science Center

Game Masters: The Exhibition showcases the world’s best video game designers, from the arcade era to today’s console and online games. And with 100+ playable games, it’s game on! (No quarters needed.)

The work of more than 30 designers who have made a significant impact in the field is explored through rare concept artwork, newly commissioned interviews and interactive digital displays. This is the first large-scale exhibition to take visitors behind the scenes of how video games are made as well as spotlighting the people who actually make them. From Nintendo’s iconic worlds featuring Mario and Link, to the obsession that is Minecraft, to the immersive experiences of Blizzard Entertainment, this is a landmark collection of the most popular video games on the planet, as well as independent games with a cult-like following.

Chuck Johns Gallery Pixar Exhibition – July 19 – 23

San Diego: The Chuck Jones Gallery—San Diego, now celebrating its 40th anniversary, line-up of incredible talent during Comic Con Int’l 2017, July 19-23.
