No one asked but I’m here to tell you anyway. Here are my most anticipated sci-fi films of 2016!
5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
I don’t really care what people are saying about the trailer because I’m psyched to see Snyder’s version of the two capes. As part of the 5% of people who weren’t super irate that Ben Affleck was cast as Bruce Wayne, I’m eager to see what he does with the part. I already know I like the voice 20x more than Bale’s. Also, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is reason enough to spend the money on a ticket and sit in a crowded and overly air-conditioned theater.
4. Captain America: Civil War
The trailer was fun, but I’m still not super convinced I’m that into Cap. I’m one of those terrible people that thought Winter Soldier was way overrated. Still good, but mostly because of Falcon. Sorry! However, I’m up for giving Cap some street cred and dirty him up a bit. That’s what he needs in my eyes. I just hope it’s justified enough for fans to forgive Cap for wailing on good ol’ Tony Stark.
3. Passengers
Basically what you need to know is that it stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Not sorry I hopped on both of those bandwagons! It comes from Prometheus and more recently the Doctor Strange writer Jon Spaihts and Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum and revolves around a space traveler who solely, amongst thousands of others, has woken from a deep slumber after his sleep chamber malfunctions. The idea of being awake sixty years early and dying alone causes him to consider waking up a fellow passenger. Whatever, I’d watch a movie about Chris Pratt stuck in a locker for two hours, but this actually sounds good!
2. Ghostbusters
Again, don’t really care what people of the internet say. I am so freaking pumped to get an update on an old favorite with some of the funniest ladies in the business right now. Paul Feige had a hit with Bridesmaids that men and women alike loved and I think he will succeed in putting people in theaters when Ghostbusters is released July 15th, 2016.
1. Deadpool
I wish it was close, but this is just too easy. The stars aligned and Hollywood got their s**t together and we’re finally getting Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. I can’t wait to see the Merc with a Mouth slice and dice enemies while talking a whole lot of smack. I know the world is going to love him almost as much as I do. Seriously, is it February yet?
