Looking Back in Time

There’s always a fascinating interest with time traveling and time in general, it’s baffled many experts and kept peoples imagination alive, when depicted in film. Do not fear about this, all these movies have something to give, and been well researched and compared throughly.

10. Timecop

Some interesting moments, but nothing that would live long in the memory. One of Jean Claude Van Dam’s tolerable films. One for the ladies perhaps.

9. Bill and Ted’s Awesome Adventures

Ridiculous and funny, but thats why it’s popular or used to be, though outdated, there’s still plenty you can get from this, like time traveling, and there’s lots of it. The only film in the list where, time traveling is taken less seriously as though on holiday.

8. Final Destination.

If you can handle the horror/chilling aspects, you want to scare yourself silly and also have the time travel element too, then go for it. If you do, start from the first film then work your way up. As in the later installments there’s references to the previous films, which wouldn’t make sense if you started later.

7. Source Code

Visionary film, with an interesting insight into travel, that’s connected with a modern appearance. Recommended.

6. Butterfly Effect

Ashton Kutcher? Drama you say?! But surprisingly acted from Ashton Kutcher who seemed to be only a comedy actor, has certainly got the skills for other more dramatic areas, as seen in this, nicely structured piece. Some surprising moments, and fantastic sound and visual effects. If you have surround you’ll probably get the best out of the sound, if not then crank it up and put it on theatre mode and that will do it.

5. Time Machine

If your thinking which one, then the original. If you want a classic in time traveling media, then go out and get this one, but if you like the modern look with films these days, though lesser in terms of overall quality, Guy Pearce’s, Time Machine could be the ideal alternative.

4. Terminator 2

Almost everyone would know something about this film, or heard of it and the ridiculous size of the muscles that are featured in this film. It’s good and always mentioned in most Sci-Fi lists, this one included.

3. Groundhog Day

If you want a light hearted comedy, with some dramatic moments thrown into the mix, then soundly written Groundhog Day, will be sure to keep you laughing and perhaps shed a tear or two. Recommended.

2. Donnie Darko

A fantastic tour de force drama, from the then semi known actor, Jake Gylenhall and Maggie Gylenhall who also stars in this, both of whom have gone onto star in other mainstream movies. More an independent/art house type of film, but it’s fame and obvious brilliance, are clearly on level par with some of the main stream giants. Recommended.

1. Back to the Future.

In this list the number one spot goes to Mr McFly and his “DOC!” You’ll see him famously shout at least once or twice. From the assisted help of Mr Spielberg and Directed by Forrest Gump fame Robert Zemmikcis. Back to the Future has everything you could like in a time traveling movie, comedy, action, drama and of course time traveling. So what are you waiting for? Go Back to the Future! Unless you’ve already seen it then, go Back to the Future once more. Recommended.
