Halloween Highlights: Hazbin Hotel

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

Unlike most of Sci-Fi Blogger’s content, Halloween Highlights is not P.G.13 and is not child-friendly. The content contained within is of a disturbing nature. Videos and written content may cover or show topics such as violence, gore, sexual themes, dismemberment, and all manner of other frightening and unpleasant things. There will also be swearing and other “naughty” language. If you are of a sensitive nature or do not wish to view or hear this sort of material, then check out a different post. Halloween content of a tamer nature will also be going up on Sci-Fi Bloggers, and we recommend you view that stuff instead.

This one is not as bad as the others though.

After two videos that scared me to the point I may have issues for a while, I wanted to cover something that is dark, violent, fun, joyful, creative, and maybe my new favorite thing ever.

Hazbin Hotel is not yet released at the time of writing, but it looks to be an amazing project. The animation is stellar and the idea interesting. I cannot begin to think with what the exact episode-to-episode plot will be, but the idea of sticking a whole host of nightmarish creatures that are just awful, shitty people in one hotel and working on making them better sounds like it could be a lot of fun.

But, for the moment, I’ll just praise the video we do have. I love peppy animation and fast-paced music. That was already enough for me. But, pair that with tiny detailed motions and cartoonish and bubbly facial expressions from the main girl and I can’t help but want to meet this character. She’s so endearing.

But, also, still a demon.

Little moments where she flares up are amazing. That is such a cool detail to her character and adds a level of power to her that makes it make sense why no one is stopping her—except the few outward attacks in the beginning.

I cannot express how much this is my aesthetic. If not for the inherent taboo with the premise—and the swearing—I would love to see this on a major channel. Maybe it can be alongside Rick and Morty on Adult Swim? This level of talent for character design, animation, and characterization is so excellent it deserves a massive audience.

And, hey, maybe this article will help with that.

Now, if you need me, I’ll be watching the video again.
