Foundations: The 5 Best Green Cards

The Green Foundations Cards Have Clear Themes

There’s a version of this Foundations list that is just green elf cards. The synergy and power level are fairly high there. But sometimes you don’t want to play a deck based around one creature type—and, as I outlined in the very first article of this “series,” this list is for cards that I think will see play off-and-on throughout Foundations lifetime. That said, the first thing on this list is an elf.

Elvish Archdruid

This card is partially to represent all of those good elf cards. But it’s also one of the best elves in Foundations. It does both of the main things that an elf deck wants: makes a lot of mana and makes the swarm of elves more powerful. And, at only three mana, this is an easy include for any such deck.

Fynn, the Fangbearer

I actually hate this card—but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good card. Putting this in Foundations means that there’s always going to be someone out there who wants to make the poison deck. One hit with this, and you can proliferate the rest.

Genesis Wave

Any ramp deck—like elves—loves cards like this. It can find a few tiny creatures for combos or other interactions, or just pull out some haymaker. I’m not much for big green spells myself, but I can’t deny how fun this card is.

Scavenger Ooze

This Foundations card single-handedly keeps reanimation strategies in check and is a great way to fight aggro. I don’t think I really need to explain much more. If you’ve never played with this card, I highly recommend seeing how much incremental advantage you can get.

Thrashing Brontodon

Much like the ooze having utility, I like this card because it’s important for decks to have access to ways to destroy enchantments or artifacts. It’s usually hard to justify cards that only destroy those things—or attack any other niche strategy—outside of a sideboard, but this card can go in the main deck thanks to good enough stats.

We did it! That’s all the colors covered. Now, as the year closes out, we only have two more to go. Foundations’ multicolored and artifact cards. We’ll be getting to those next week.
