So what’s all this fuss about E3? And why is everyone talking about it? Here’s the DL (down-low a.k.a. low-down a.k.a. information) on E3, what it is and why you should care, or not.
E3 stands for the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The three Es are why it began to be called E3 many years ago.
It’s the main annual convention for the video games industry to introduce their new and planned games to the press and other industry professionals.
2017 is the first year that the general public will be allowed in to the expo. We’re guessing it has something to do with money (more ticket sales) and the need for game publishers to have more promotional vehicles.
In any case, if all goes well with public admission, expect E3 to become another PAX (Penny Arcade eXpo).
Here’s the official description of E3 from their website:
E3 is the world’s premier event for computer, video and mobile games and related products. At E3, the video game industry’s top talent pack the Los Angeles Convention Center, connecting tens of thousands of the best, brightest, and most innovative in the interactive entertainment industry. For three exciting days, leading-edge companies, groundbreaking new technologies and never-before-seen products will be showcased. E3 connects you with both new and existing partners, industry executives, and the biggest fans of video games providing unprecedented exposure to emerging markets. E3 is where it all starts.
