Deadpool Movie and Comic News
It sounds like the Deadpool film is actually coming to fruition. There are rumors floating around that some names are being added to the cast list alongside Ryan Reynolds and news from the current comic book series as well.
First up is T.J. Miller, who stars in HBO’s Silicon Valley and lends his voice to Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon 2. Miller is a big time screen-stealer with great timing and delivery so it will be interesting to see if he plays nice with the manic Deadpool. Nothing has been confirmed and was originally reported to The Wrap.
Also reported were whisperings of Ed Skrein joining. Skrein had a brief stint as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones before leaving the show to star in the Transporter series. Skrein is being speculated as the villain of the movie.
In other Deadpool news Marvel announced that (spoiler alert) the character is scheduled to die in Deadpool #250, which will be released in April. It seems a bit weird to kill a character off almost a year before the stand alone film will be released. Marvel also cancelled the Fantastic Four comic in the fall. The new Fantastic Four film will be released August 7th of this year. Maybe Marvel is just taking a stand against rival studio Fox, who will be releasing both films.
Deadpool will be released February 12, 2016, and will be the debut feature-length film of visual effects master Tim Miller. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are writing the screenplay and filming will begin this March. Ryan Reynolds has been pushing for the film to get made for years and, finally, after test footage leaked last summer to an overwhelmingly positive reaction, Fox gave it the green light.
