Comic-Con Movie News

The San Diego Convention Center may be huge, but it’s unable to contain all of the excitement of Comic-Con, which came to a close this week. There were lots of panels, trailers and fun and I’m here to talk film.

The most buzzed about trailer to be released online was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The teaser was shown during the DC Comic and Warner Bros. panel. Check it out.

This appears to be Batman’s side of the previously Man-of-Steel-heavy trailer. Affleck has a serious bone to pick with Henry Cavill’s Superman. And yeah, we’re going to see Bruce Wayne’s parents die…again. Although it is exciting that we’re finally seeing a little of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. Things are going to get dirty when the film is released March 25th, 2016.

Also released at the same panel was the trailer for the highly anticipated Suicide Squad. Director David Ayer was there to introduce the footage to much acclaim and briefly announce the cast, sans Jared Leto.

Are you kidding?! For a first look, that’s incredible. This cast, obviously as well as the movie, have a lot of hype surrounding them, but the trailer could not have received a better reaction.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens had an hour-long panel, but no new trailer or footage. There was a short behind the scenes clip, but I recommend viewing the panel in its entirety to reinvigorate your excitement for the December release.

Jennifer Lawrence and Hunger Games costars were the first big news of Con and showed an interesting trailer for Mockingjay Part 2. I’d describe it as a Michael/Janet Jackson/Madonna mashup music video. The film will come out in November.

Then there’s always some leaks. Since Marvel was noticeably absent, Fox took the opportunity to use it to their advantage to talk about some of their upcoming releases Fantastic Four and the newly announced Green Lantern Corps. The first leaked trailer we’re buzzing about is X-Men: Apocalypse. Grainy videos are being ripped left and right from YouTube, but hopefully the teaser will be officially released online this week. In it we can see a new cast of characters, similar to First Class, dealing with the effects of mutanism. Apocalypse will hit theaters May 27th, 2016.

Finally, the best for last. A look at the upcoming, long-awaited Deadpool movie. Still hasn’t been released online, but an official look should be out sometime in the next few weeks. In the Comic-Con teaser we got over-the-top violence, offensive language, sex, the shattering of the fourth wall, and it was brilliant. Normally, I look at trailers with hesitation. This time, I’m all in. It’s chimi-f******-changa time.
