Here at Sci-Fi Bloggers, we run a lot of individual pieces on the site, each of them revolving around and focusing on a specific topic. Sometimes, however, we like to crank it up a notch and take a look at a few things at once. With that said, we invite you to follow us as we take a look at what’s happening…AROUND THE NET!

Senn: You May Love It Before Watching

One of the primary concerns people have about paying good money to watch a movie is if it will be worth the cash. Imagine if there were a way to find out if you would enjoy a movie before you see it.

The story follows Senn, a line worker from the planet Pyam struggling to get by in a community ruled by stifling government rules. The appearance of an enigmatic alien intelligence changes everything. Suddenly, he is being taken away to an ancient object called the Polychronom to fulfill a mysterious purpose that could change the course of civilization.

If the plot for Senn isn’t enough to convince you to see it, you can take a quiz to find out if the film is for you. Director and Co-Writer Josh Feldman created a quiz that can give people an idea of whether or not they will enjoy Senn.

Peacekeepers: The New LGBTQ-Friendly Sci-Fi Web Show

In this modern day digital era, it would make sense that everyday superheroes would communicate using a means such as texting. This is one of several contemporary elements incorporated into new web series, Peacekeepers.

Peacekeepers is an original sci-fi series created by Charlie Reeves and Maria Makeena. Set in New York City, it follows Alana, who works as an assistant for the Peacekeepers. The story follows her life as she tries to balance the duties of her job, her love life and ghosts from her past.

Since its release, Peacekeepers has been nominated for IndieWire’s Project of the Year. The series is a dark comedy that draws inspiration from shows like Buffy, Sherlock and Doctor Who. One of the key goals of the creators was to incorporate strong roles for women and LGBTQ characters, demographics they felt have been underrepresented in sci-fi.

The six-episode first season is the first of a planned three-season arc. You can view the pilot, “The Long Way Down”, here.

Isabella’s Heiress: Life After Life

Imagine waking up one day and finding yourself in a city completely devoid of life. The only explanations would be that either everyone died in some kind of plague or you’re in another plane of existence.

Isabella’s Heiress follows attorney Emma Elliot, who finds herself wandering the empty streets of London with a mysterious stranger as her guide. Emma realizes she was killed in a car accident and is now in the afterlife. Unfortunately, it’s anything but peaceful as an ancient war between two groups of angels rages, one of which believes they have a right to rule the world. Emma finds herself caught in a battle that could determine the fate of every human soul.
I like the premise of the book, particularly how Emma is thrust into this epic war after she dies. What should have been a peaceful afterlife becomes a battle for her soul and the souls of every human on earth. I’m curious to see how this kind of war plays out in the spiritual realm and how/if it affects the world of the living at all.

Genesis Network: It’ll Leave You Wanting More

Genesis Network is a sci-fi short barely over two minutes, but it’s still quite the surprise! If only it were a trailer for a larger film. Anyway, take a moment to enjoy this.
