Agents of SHIELD: Episode 7 – The Hub

Last week on Agents of SHIELD…

We embarked on our best adventure yet. Simmons is infected with some kind of alien infection that will kill her and destroy the plane if she cannot cure it on time. Fitz does his best to help but, when it seems all might be lost, Simmons throws herself out of the plane to spare the crew of what might happen when the ticking time bomb she has become goes off. Ward saves her as Fitz discovers the cure just in time. Everyone is saved.

Now….

The gang is brought into “The Hub,” a center of SHIELD activity. Fitz and Ward are enlisted for a Level 8 classified mission to disable a weapon. Skye and Simmons try to figure out what the mission is, since they don’t have the proper clearance, and come to conclusion that they must intervene and save Fitz and Ward.

I realize I am going back and forth on this show at incredibly irregular intervals. One week, I am invested, strapped in for the ride and Agents of SHIELD has got me hook, line, and sinker. Other weeks, I check my watch every couple minutes and cringe at almost every joke that fails to elicit a laugh from this spectator (although that could be a personal issue, I don’t laugh too often). Simply put, this week failed to live up to the precedent set last week and offer an engaging and urgent storyline for our team to navigate through and succeed in the last minute. The promise of an upgrade to Level 8 clearance doesn’t do much either to incite my interest. I still plan on continuing to watch the show week in and week out, but it shouldn’t feel like such a hit or miss affair every time a new episode comes out.

Next Week…

There seems to be a cross-over with the film universe as the gang has to do clean up duty in London as a result of Thor’s shenanigans at the climax of The Dark World.
